The Secret to Finding That Specialty Olive Oil
4:13

Extra virgin olive oil isn’t just an ingredient—it’s a food that transforms everything it touches. A drizzle over vegetables brings them to life. A spoonful in a stew unlocks depth and richness. Even the simplest slice of bread becomes extraordinary when paired with a thoughtfully crafted olive oil.

Walk down any grocery aisle and you’ll see rows of extra virgin olive oils. How do you select an olive oil that is truly special? That’s where the Extra Virgin Alliance (EVA) comes in. EVA is a collection of extra virgin olive oils from around the world from producers who commit to going above and beyond in quality, sustainability, and engagement in their communities . Products that carry the EVA seal don’t stop at meeting the basic definition of extra virgin. They go further—examples of extraordinary care in farming, milling, and packaging, and in caring for the communities and that land where it was made.

Our list of EVA olive oil changes on a regular basis. Please refer to our master list for an up to date list.

What Makes EVA Olive Oils Different?

To become a member of the Extra Virgin Alliance, producers must submit a Certificate of Analysis that shows their oil meets the EVA criteria for chemistry and sensory attributes. Samples are also submitted for our testing program that monitors compliance using third-party labs.  There are also requirements with respect to production and packaging regarding harvest year, origin, and labeling.

Every EVA oil is measured not just by taste and chemistry, but also by the +Factors—three pillars that define what makes an olive oil truly special:

  • The Oil: best practices for quality , traceability, and tasting notes that capture unique character.
  • The Land: stewardship of groves, biodiversity, sustainability, and heritage trees.
  • The People: family ownership, small-farm sourcing, and deep community connections.

When you bring home an olive oil with the EVA seal, you’re not just buying flavor—you’re supporting a community of growers and makers who treat olive oil as a gift from the earth and a responsibility to future generations.
